WP Consent API

What you can do

• Use any consent plugin that sets consent through the WP Consent API, and Pellio follows it.
• Play Pellio-hosted videos without consent: the Pellio player sets no cookies.
• Count views anonymously, with no viewer id stored on the device, until a visitor gives statistics consent.
• Hold back YouTube and Vimeo videos until the visitor gives marketing consent.
• List the player’s browser storage in your consent tool, because Pellio declares it to the API.

Set it up

1. Install the WP Consent API plugin and a consent plugin that supports it.
2. Install the Pellio plugin.
3. That’s it: Pellio reads the consent type and each visitor’s choices from the API. There’s nothing to configure in Pellio.
4. To check, open a page with a YouTube or Vimeo video in a private window and press play before accepting the banner.

What Pellio declares

• pellio_vid: an anonymous viewer id, only with statistics consent.
• pellio_pos_*: where a viewer got to, for resuming.
• pellio_lead_*: that a viewer already filled in a video’s form.

Good to know

• Without marketing consent, pressing play on a YouTube or Vimeo video shows a note that it’s hosted there. Play video in the note loads that one video.
• Pellio also reads Complianz, CookieYes, Real Cookie Banner and Borlabs Cookie directly.
• Developers can tell Pellio a consent manager is active with the pellio_consent_manager_active filter.
