Analytics and heatmaps
On this page
On each video
A video’s Analytics tab covers the last 30 days.
- Loads: times the player was shown. Plays: times someone pressed play. Play rate is plays ÷ loads.
- Unique viewers: distinct viewers who pressed play.
- Watch time and Avg. watched count seconds actually watched. Skipping ahead doesn’t count.
- Reached 50% and Finished (watched 95% or more): the share of plays that got that far.
- Per day: plays each day.
- Audience retention: the share of plays still watching at each point in the video. Interactions shown at a set time are marked on the chart.
- Top sites and Devices: where you’re embedded and what people watch on.

Viewers and heatmaps
The Viewers tab lists the latest 200 plays, with a heatmap for each viewer: which parts they watched and which they skipped, and the interactions they clicked or submitted. Switch between By viewer (all of a viewer’s sessions merged) and Every session. Export CSV downloads the list.

Viewers are anonymous until Pellio learns who they are: when they fill in an email form, when they watch on your WordPress site while logged in, or when your page passes their email with the player API’s identify method or the email= player option.
Across the workspace
Analytics in the sidebar opens on Overview: totals for the last 7, 30 or 90 days for your whole workspace, a folder (including Unfiled) or a tag, and you can combine a folder with a tag: plays per day, top videos, the pages your videos were watched on, and UTM source, medium and campaign from those pages’ addresses.

Export CSV downloads a row per video: Video, Video id, Loads, Plays, Play rate %, Watch time (s) and Avg. watched %.
Compare videos
Analytics → Compare puts two to four videos side by side for the last 7, 30 or 90 days: loads, plays, play rate, unique viewers, watch time, average watch time per play, average watched, completion rate (watched 90% or more), leads, call-to-action clicks and leads per play, with the best value of each in bold. Their audience retention curves share one chart, measured across each video’s length so a 2-minute and a 20-minute video line up, and a second chart shows plays per day. The address keeps the videos you picked, so you can bookmark or share a comparison. Compare, Reports and Live are on the Standard plan and above.
Custom reports
Analytics → Reports builds a table from your views:
- Group by video, folder, tag, day, week, month, country, device, browser, operating system, website, page, UTM source, medium or campaign, or viewer (identified viewers by name or email; everyone else together as anonymous).
- Numbers: any of loads, plays, play rate, unique viewers, watch time, average watch time per play, average watched, completions, completion rate, leads, call-to-action clicks and leads per play.
- Period: the last 7, 30 or 90 days, 12 months, or any dates (up to 400 days). Compare with the previous period shows each number’s change against the same length of time just before.
- Only: one folder, tag, country, device or website, and Identified viewers only.
Click a column to sort by it. Save report keeps it for everyone in the workspace (pick it from the list to run it again with the latest numbers), and Export CSV downloads the same rows with a total.
Live
Analytics → Live shows who’s watching right now and updates every few seconds: how many people are watching, which videos, their countries, devices and the websites they’re on, plays started each minute for the last 30 minutes, and the latest plays with who and where (identified viewers by name or email). A viewer counts as watching while their player is playing; someone who pauses or leaves drops off within about half a minute.
People with access to only some folders see just those folders on every Analytics page.
Report emails
A report email sums up how your videos did: plays, unique viewers, watch time, play rate and new leads, each compared with the period before, plus your most watched videos, videos viewers leave early (20 or more plays and under 30% watched on average), new uploads, A/B test winners and, for owners and admins, a warning when storage is 70% full or more. People with access to only some folders see just those folders. Nothing is sent for a period with no plays, leads, uploads or test winners.
Choose Weekly (Monday morning, covering Monday to Sunday), Monthly (on the 1st, covering the month before) or Off in Settings → Notifications, per workspace. It’s off until you turn it on. Email me a preview now sends the last period’s report straight away. Every report has a one-click Unsubscribe link.
Google Analytics and Tag Manager
Pellio can send GA4’s recommended video events (video_start, video_progress at 25, 50, 75 and 90%, and video_complete, with video_title, video_percent and more) to gtag() and to the Tag Manager dataLayer on your page:
- With the
<pellio-player>web component it’s automatic (setwindow.pellioAnalytics = falseto turn it off). - With iframe embeds, add
<script src="https://api.pellio.io/assets/analytics-bridge.js" async></script>to the page. - On WordPress, tick Send video events to Google Analytics / Tag Manager in Pellio → Settings (the Google Analytics row).
Embeds with dnt=1 in the player URL aren’t tracked.
