Use Pellio videos in Moodle, Docebo or any LMS (SCORM and cmi5)
On this page
Pellio videos work in any LMS that takes SCORM or cmi5 packages: Moodle, TalentLMS, Docebo, Cornerstone, SCORM Cloud and many more. You download a small package for a video and upload it to your LMS like any other course content. The LMS then marks the lesson complete once the learner has really watched it.
On WordPress with LifterLMS, LearnDash, Tutor LMS or Sensei, you don’t need a package: see LifterLMS and LearnDash, Tutor LMS and Sensei.
SCORM 1.2 or cmi5?
- SCORM 1.2 works in almost every LMS. The LMS gets completed and the share of the video watched as the score. Pick this if you’re not sure.
- cmi5 (xAPI) is the newer standard. Your LMS’s learning record store gets detailed statements: when the lesson opened, progress at 25, 50 and 75%, completion and when the learner left. Pick it if your LMS lists cmi5 among the formats it accepts.
1. Download the package
- Open the video in Pellio and go to the Share links card.
- Click LMS package and choose the Format.
- Choose Complete after watching: 50, 75, 90, 95 or 100% of the video (90% by default). Only seconds actually played count, so skipping ahead doesn’t.
- Optionally turn on No skipping ahead, so learners can’t jump past the furthest point they’ve watched (going back is always allowed).
- Click Download package. You get a zip file.

2. Add it to your LMS
Upload the zip where your LMS adds course content. In Moodle, for example, that’s Add an activity or resource → SCORM package; in most other LMSs it’s an option like “Upload SCORM / xAPI / cmi5 content”. Upload the zip as it is: don’t unzip it.
What learners see
The lesson opens with your video in the Pellio player, with a progress bar showing how much they’ve watched and how much they need. They can pause, leave and come back: their progress carries over and the video picks up where they left off (with No skipping ahead on, it starts from the beginning, but what they watched before still counts).

Once they reach your threshold the lesson shows Completed and the LMS records it. With a cmi5 package, Finish and return takes them back to the course in the LMS.

Good to know
- Private videos play in the LMS. The package contains no video: it plays through a share link made for it, listed as SCORM package or cmi5 package in the Share links card. Domain restrictions and passwords don’t get in the way.
- Turn it off any time. Turning that share link off stops the package playing in every course that uses it.
- Replacing the video updates every package. There’s nothing to re-upload.
- Learners in Pellio’s analytics. When the LMS identifies learners by email address, they’re named in the video’s Viewers tab and in the learner log.
- Captions and dubbed audio follow the learner’s language when the LMS shares it (cmi5) and the video has them.
- Browse and review. If the LMS opens a cmi5 lesson in browse or review mode, the video plays but nothing is recorded.
If something doesn’t work
- The video doesn’t play: check the package’s share link is still on in the Share links card.
- The lesson doesn’t complete: the learner has to reach the threshold you chose with continuous playback; skipped parts don’t count. The progress bar under the video shows how far they are.
- Your LMS rejects a cmi5 package: it may not support cmi5 yet. Download a SCORM 1.2 package instead.
