What you can do

• Cache pages with Private and domain-restricted Pellio videos, and they keep playing.
• Keep the first click on play: Pellio’s scripts are added to WP Rocket’s Delay JavaScript execution exclusions and marked to be left alone.
• Get a warning in the Pellio plugin if a setting still gets in the way.

Set it up

1. Install the Pellio plugin with WP Rocket active, and connect it in Pellio → Settings.
2. There’s nothing to add to WP Rocket: the exclusions are applied automatically.
3. Open Pellio → Settings → Status and check the caching and optimisation result.
4. Clear WP Rocket’s cache, open a page with a private video in a private window and press play.

How it works

Private videos are authorised by tokens signed for each page view, which last 12 hours. When a cached page’s tokens are within 5 minutes of expiring, the page quietly fetches fresh ones before anyone presses play. So a page served from WP Rocket’s cache hours later still plays.

Good to know

• Members-only videos stay protected: non-members get no token when a cached page refreshes.
• The same approach works behind LiteSpeed Cache, SiteGround Optimizer, WP Fastest Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, host caches and CDNs.
• Pellio’s scripts are also marked for Autoptimize and Cloudflare Rocket Loader.
• With Perfmatters or FlyingPress, add /plugins/pellio/assets/js/ to their Delay JavaScript exclusions yourself.
