Page builders and custom fields

• Elementor: a Pellio Video widget.
• Bricks: a Pellio Video element.
• Advanced Custom Fields: a Pellio Video field type that picks a video from your Pellio library. Its Return format is Player HTML, Video id (for pellio_video( $id ) in templates) or Video data, and Allow null lets the field be left empty.

The Elementor widget and Bricks element have Source (Pellio library, a YouTube, Vimeo or video file link, or the Media Library), then Video or Link, Title, Start muted, Loop, Start at (seconds) and Who can watch (Anyone who can see this page, or Logged-in users only). For autoplay, captions, membership plans or a custom thumbnail, use the block or the [pellio] shortcode.

Linking to a moment

Add ?pellio_t=90 to a page’s address and its videos start at that second.

SEO plugins

On a connected site, every page with a Pellio-hosted video that’s ready and not Private carries VideoObject structured data. It includes chapters as key moments (or, without chapters, a “seek to” action) and, when the video has captions, its transcript. Your site also gets a video sitemap at /pellio-video-sitemap.xml (?pellio_video_sitemap=1 without pretty permalinks), listed in robots.txt. The sitemap leaves out password-protected posts and videos, and the transcript is left out for password-protected videos.

• Yoast SEO and Rank Math: the video sitemap is listed in their sitemap index, and each page’s VideoObject joins their structured data graph instead of appearing as a separate script.
• Developers can adjust this with pellio_video_sitemap, pellio_output_schema, pellio_schema_transcript and pellio_post_video_ids.

Page caching and optimisation

Private videos are authorised by tokens signed for each page view, which last 12 hours. When a cached page’s tokens are within 5 minutes of expiring, the page quietly fetches fresh ones before anyone presses play. So videos keep playing behind WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, SiteGround Optimizer, WP Fastest Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, host caches and CDNs. Pellio’s scripts are marked to be left alone by JavaScript delay and combine features (WP Rocket, LiteSpeed Cache, Autoptimize, Cloudflare Rocket Loader), so the first click on play is never lost. With Perfmatters or FlyingPress, add /plugins/pellio/assets/js/ to their Delay JavaScript exclusions yourself. Pellio → Settings → Status warns about settings that still get in the way.
